Es la superficie total cultivada de una finca dividida por el total de la tierra de labranza. Cuando hay cultivos múltiples, la intensidad de cultivo puede ser mayor de uno. A menudo se presenta como un porcentaje. Así, una finca en la que se cultivan 7 hectáreas como resultado de los cultivos múltiples, pero en la que sólo hay un total de 5 hectáreas de tierras de labranza, tiene una intensidad de cultivo de 1,4 (7 [dividido por] 5 = 1,4), o sea, el 140 porciento.
